MNG: It's Raining Mangoes!!!

Happy vacation! Sad to announce that today is the last day of our long vacation from work. Sometimes, I really envy the students for having a longer vacation. (To think that I am also a STUDENT... just working)

Where did you guys spend the days to relax?

Want to share to you mine.

I went to my sister's place together with my boyfriend, my bother and my cousin last Thursday (first day of vacation) in San Ildefonso, Bulacan. We spent 3 days and 2 nights there and I can say that we really had a good time and enjoyed the rest of the vacation. We had nice experiences in their farm called "TUMANA". There was where we harvested all the mangoes we've brought here to Manila as "pasalubong" to our relatives and friends. So funny that my brother-in-law showed us a way of harvesting by shaking big branches of the trees and it seemed like it's raining mangoes!!! We were under the tree escaping from all the mangoes that were falling, fearing that they might hit our heads! Unfortunately, one mango hit me on my back. It hurt a bit but I didn't mind. I just laughed my heart out. Sad to say, I wasn't able to take a video while we were doing that maybe because of my excitement. The excitement of catching falling mangoes and picking the ones that already fell on the ground. Know what, we gained a sack full of mangoes from just one tree and few branches! I couldn't imagine how many more can we get from all the branches and all  other trees!

Going back to my sister's house was like a punishment to the boys. Bringing those  mangoes home in a 20-minute walkathon. I pity them but who had the choice? Who else would bring those? Haha! I remember how they looked upon bringing the whole sack and I remember my boyfriend slipped off in the "pilapil". He had out-of-balance, slipped a foot down the field, and he nearly dived in there. (Oops! Hope he won't kill me for telling that scene!)Hahaha!!!

We still had the same burden going back to Manila. My three men bringing all those mangoes. I felt the guilt when I was looking at them because I saw in their faces how hard to bring those. But they wouldn't let me help them. All I was bringing were my own things! My bag and my laptop.

When we finally got home, we parted the mangoes and distributed to our friends and neighbors. Until now, we still have some. Imagine how plenty we had.

My Ensaladang Mangga

Yesterday morning, my boyfriend woke me up bringing 2 kilos of Indian mangoes. Maybe he knows how  long I crave mangoes since my UTI attacked. There were too much that he brought so I decided to make ensaladang mangga to have him tasted the simplest recipe I know.
To those who want to know how to do it, just
(A) pick the mangoes not nearly ripen
(B) put bagoong in a bowl
(C) peel the mangoes and make very very thin slices
(D) mix them with bagoong and make sure to make the two ingredients become even
(E) Serve.
You can serve it as side dish on your meal, dessert after your meal, and merienda or snack. You can also have it chilled if you want. It's simple to make but tastes delicious especially to those who love mangoes. Enjoy preparing it and happy eating!!!

SLEEPING LATE AND WAKING UP WHAT?

Watching movies? Eating? Browsing over the net? Reading? What do you usually do late at night when you can't sleep? I used to do all of the above. I can't sleep early at night and I won't say I don't know why. I am coffeeholic-my own term for being addicted to coffee. I drink coffee in the morning, after lunch, afternoon snack, after dinner and... yeah, before going to bed. So, here I am still awake at 4:40 in the morning writing this nonsense blog just because I don't have anything to do to call it a night... A night? It's already morning!!! I still don't feel sleepy.
On weekdays, my working days, I sleep earlier. Earlier than weekends like tonight. Earlier for about 2-3 hours? 12am, 1am, 2am... still so damn late, eh? In the morning I need to get up at 6am to prepare to go to work. Mean to say, I only have 4-6 hours of sleep everyday. It's hard to go to work with your head so high like a balloon wanting to fly high. But I get used to it.
Sleeping late feels normal to me. What being a problem is the hardship of waking up dizzy. There are times that my Ma yells freaking at me like she's seeing a zombie... Does she pretend she's a plant? There are also times that I wake up wondering if I have really slept or just closed my eyes in a while, then get up again to start another day. That is so confusing sometimes, but as it is always goes that way, I never mind.
Now, what I want to know is how can I call "sleepiness" to come knock my in my head and send me to bed?
Ouch, I'm afraid again on how will I look like tomorrow when I get to see myself in the mirror.
Sleep late tonight. Wake up what later? I'll late you know, then.
Good mornight!!!!
